How Jacking Systems will benefit Builders

Jacking Systems - Benefiting BuildersFor the builder of any multi storey complex, Jacking Systems technology can be at the heart of your successful projects delivering benefits across many aspects of the construction process. By design, the Jacking Systems process means floor construction work will require significantly less crane usage, will minimise the use of temporary form works and materials plus reduce labour costs and therefore produce competitive element unit costs.

The natural efficiency of the Jacking System process translates directly into efficiency in the building. Equipment handling, formwork stripping and assembly is reduced and as temporary props are not required the benefit is an increased work area above and below floor with considerably less clutter and mess.

Quick Fact Technology at the heart of successful projects delivering benefits across many aspects of the construction process.

Because the floors are poured on site, there is no requirement for slab deliveries or arranging cranes thus increasing work time. The system has an integrated perimeter access formwork and access system that improves site safety as well as a fast and simple edge system. Together these factors mean smaller site crews and quieter operation and because Jacking Systems means the elimination of formwork deck or pre-cast for slab production, reinforcement and post-tensioning trades can commence immediately the day following pouring of the concrete floor.

Edge SystemAlong with all of these benefits, as the builder, you can also be comfortable that Jacking Systems technology also means greater site safety. Designed into the failsafe operating software is the absolute knowledge of loads at each jack-support during all stages of construction providing a new level of checks and controls previously un heard of in the building construction environment.

The system’s self climbing edge system includes a four plank walk way, slab edge formwork, kick board, hand rails and a catch screen that covers lower levels, completely encapsulating the slab work area and levels below both during and following lifting of the floor. This eliminates the need for crane handling from floor to floor screen and formwork, an activity that would have workers on the building edge, the most exposed and dangerous part of the building site.

Because there is no stripping of soffit formwork, injuries resulting from falling formwork items and back injuries resulting from handling heavy soffit formwork items are eliminated.

Dependable subcontractor

The jacked, post tensioned floor will be delivered as a total design build package by one of our partners. International post tensioning experts, VSL have developed their specific jacked floor product, known as CLIMBFLOOR of which further details are available at VSL

Builders Checklist

Lower costs:

  • Low crane requirements
  • Minimal temporary works and materials
  • Reduced labour
  • Competitive element unit costs

More efficient production:

  • Minimal equipment handling, formwork stripping and assembly
  • Uncluttered work spaces
  • Increased working areas both above floor and below floor
  • Minimal crane requirements and effect from crane down time
  • Systemised approach to perimeter access formwork, safety and access at the building edge
  • Fast and simple assembly of edge system and jacking establishment.
  • No temporary propping of the floor required, Jacking pack props climb automatically with the self climbing jacks
  • The elimination of pre-cast floor delivery issues and pre cast
  • Quiet operation
  • A smaller number of site crew is needed

Faster production cycles:

  • Through the elimination of formwork deck or pre-cast for slab production, reinforcement and post-tensioning trades can commence immediately the day following pouring of the concrete floor.

Greater safety

  • Absolute knowledge of loads at each jack-support during all stages of construction provides a new level of checks and controls previously un heard of in the building construction environment.
  • Self climbing edge system that includes a four plank walk way, slab edge formwork, kick board, hand rails and a catch screen that covers lower levels, completely encapsulates the slab work area and levels below both during and following lifting of the floor. This eliminates the need for crane handling from floor to floor screen and formwork, an activity that would have workers on the building edge, the most exposed and dangerous part of the building site.
  • Because there is no stripping of soffit formwork, injuries resulting from falling formwork items and back injuries resulting from handling heavy soffit formwork items are eliminated.
  • Reduced labour on the site will prove less comparative numbers of accidents.
  • Having a clean work space reduces the chances for tripping and falling.
